Tarek is a Management Consultant with Meirc Training & Consulting. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the American University of Beirut (AUB) and is a CFA® Charterholder. In addition, Tarek has obtained several certifications in banking and finance, such as Islamic Finance qualification, Business Conduct, Risk in Financial Services, and Securities from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).

Experience

Tarek is a specialist in financial services with more than 16 years of experience in various financial institutions in the Middle East. He has a proven track record in the implementation of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) in commercial and private banking settings. Tarek moved through the ranks of Ahli International Bank, Banque Libano-Française, Prometeia Middle East, and lastly FFA Private Bank where he held the position of Head of Risk Management and Control. Tarek aims to leverage his skills and experience to promote Governance, Risk & Compliance in corporate environments amidst the digital transformation path while providing a unique practitioner’s perspective on the challenges of the future.

Tarek has a robust practical involvement in most of the pillars underlying the finance domain. He has extensive experience in strategic planning, investment, capital markets, credit management, Governance, Risk, and Compliance, as well as finance and internal control.
His value proposition includes setting and implementing plans to optimize risk appetite, business strategies, and financial budgeting and modeling. He is also a subject matter expert in stress testing, contingency planning, financial analysis, Expected Credit Loss (ECL) calculation in accordance with IFRS 9 guidelines, calibrating Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Early Warning Signals (EWS) reports, as well as building excel-based dashboards.
