How to become a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Pass the CPA exams
    • Upon passing the CPA Exam, you will receive your CPA certificate. This is not a license to practice
  • Complete the educational and work experience requirements mandated by the state board of accountancy of the State in which you registered
    • By enrolling with Meirc, candidates get access to Wiley’s Gold CPA Review Course which provides them free professional support regarding the State licensing requirements
  • CPA candidates agree to abide by AICPA Code of Professional Conduct

Things you should know about the CPA exam
  • Eligibility to sit for the CPA Exam is determined by the state board of accountancy in each of the 55 U.S. jurisdictions, however the general requirement is that the candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree or higher, or 120 college credit hours
  • Candidates can sit for any part at any time, no specific order to be followed
  • The four CPA exam parts must be completed within 18 months of the first exam date
    • If 18 months have passed without completing all 4 parts, candidates start losing the exams that were completed before the 18 months period
  • CPA exam results are sent by email within 10 – 20 days from completing the exam
  • Each part is graded on a scale of 0 to 99. The minimum passing score is 75
  • In case of failing an exam, candidates may register for the same exam right after receiving the result
  • There is no limit to the number of times the candidate can retake the CPA exam
